Woke Warfare
Several months ago, my campaign released a satirical ad called “War is Gay.” It pointed to the hilarity of branches of the military, intelligence agencies, and weapons contractors using politically correct or “woke” language to attract younger people, and cloak their evil warmongering practices with a veneer of progressive social acceptance.
This was the first of our satirical ads, and we weren’t exactly sure how it would land. But by mixing a little bit of humor, irony, and cold hard truth, this ad went viral on multiple platforms. And it reached the intended audience, drawing laughs and eye rolls from those who have witnessed the latest attempt at normalizing mass murder with wokeness, and it infuriated the people who push this message on us and don’t want us to notice.
But today, I’m not here for laughs or satire. Today I’m here to tell you that there is nothing gaudy, socially inclusive, or funny about war. War is not gay; war is retarded.
The Insanity of War
Wars are always predicated on lies. Whether it be the non-existent mine at Havana Harbor that sank the USS Maine, the fact that the Lusitania was carrying weapons to Great Britain during World War I, that the United States knew the Japanese were going to attack Pearl Harbor, the non-existant torpedoes in the Gulf of Tonkin attack, the anthrax letters that were not from Al Qaeda, or the gas attacks that weren’t carried out by Assad, every single justification for entering a war is coated in some form of deception.
Not only are the justifications for entering the wars ridiculous, but once the wars start, any pre-existing political justification for entrance evaporates as special interests and weapons contractors milk the teat of the war machine to turn any conflict into a quagmire. The AUMF was crafted to go after the specific terrorists who orchestrated 9/11, but it was instead used to invade Afghanistan and pursue countless other endeavors in the Middle East, and even other areas of the world.
Though war is advertised to those whose hearts ache when they see injustice, the powers that be do not care at all about the suffering of people abroad. They only care about political leverage, and enriching themselves. A prime example of this would be how Mike Pompeo will go on about how he weeps for women forced to wear hijabs in Iran, but then will happily advocate for giving billions in weapons contracts to Saudi Arabia. Then he will exclaim at the top of his lungs that we must protect Muslim Uyghurs in China, but stand by the genocide in Yemen in which almost 400,000 Muslims have been starved and bombed to death.
The war machine cares not for righting the wrongs of evil regimes, but only for enriching itself and expanding its influence.
The Insults Never Change
They would have called you anti-American in the 1960’s if you were against the war in Vietnam. They called you a terrorist sympathizer if you didn’t think we should get involved in Iraq or Afghanistan. They called you an Assad-puppet if you stood against giving weapons to rebel groups in Syria. And now they will call you a Russian asset or a CCP stooge if you don’t want to go to war with Russia or China.
But you were none of these things. In fact, the establishment and supporters of the wars ended up being many of the things they accused you of being. Just a few years after calling you a terrorist sympathizer, they said you had to support terrorists to oust Assad.
The proxy war in Ukraine is in full swing, with US Airborne troops amassing at the border, ready to interdict Russian soldiers. 67 billion dollars have been pumped into Ukraine, with full strategic backing of the United States and its NATO allies. Meanwhile, on the other side of the world, tensions have been boiling in the South China Sea after Joe Biden has arrogantly exclaimed that the United States will intervene militarily if the Chinese make a move against Taiwan.
Amidst all of this, the question is, did you ever get to have a say? Do you get to decide if your son or husband goes and dies over a border dispute in Europe or Asia?
Two Warmongers
Unfortunately, on November 8th there will only be one choice for US Senate who doesn’t want to plunge this country deeper into war. Maggie Hassan and Don Bolduc have both made it clear where they stand, which is for more pressure on China and Russia, and more war with those whom they perceive to be our enemies.
Don Bolduc’s criticism of the Biden Administration has been simply that they have no strategy. When the invasion first began, Don wanted to interdict columns of Russian tanks and to put special forces and CIA troops on the ground to help Zelensky. On his website he also outlines how we should go after China, and rogue countries like North Korea and Iran.
Maggie Hassan has done nothing but align with President Biden’s agenda, including voting for the 40 billion dollars to Ukraine, and sanctions on Russia. She has been endorsed by AIPAC, and supports sanctions against China.
One Anti War Choice
I am firmly opposed to war. But beyond that, I am opposed to putting us into a position that leads to these wars in the first place. Ironically, those of us who want peace are called “isolationists.” But I don’t want isolation - I want cooperation. I think we should be willing to sit down with our allies and adversaries alike, especially at times like this. Historically, diplomacy has been instrumental in avoiding major conflicts since World War 2.
On November 8th, choose peace. Vote Libertarian.
